Metamorphosis

This short story has to have been one of the strangest I have read thus far in my life. But, I felt like there was lots of different aspects to talk about. What disapointed me the most was how Gregor's family became less and less attached to him as time went on. This may not be true for everyone, but in my family we emphasize the importance of taking care of one and other and helping out. I may not always like my sisters or my parents but I know that they will always be there for me. They are my backbone, and essential to my being. They are my love.

In The Metamorphosis, Gregor's family hardly tolerates his new figure. They put up with him for a while but then decide he is a nuisance and hardly want anything to do with him. It was heartbreaking for me to read this story and watch them abandon Gregor when he need his family the most. Did their love stop when they decided he was no longer a human being? How does a family that relied so much on his existance "morph" in such short time?
